HomeMy WebLinkAboutLTC 036-2026 Homeless Point in Time Census Results - January 2026MIAMI BEACH OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER LTC #036-2026 TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: LETTER TO COMMISSION Honorable Mayor Steven Meiner and Members of the City Commission Eric Carpenter, City Manager � �� February 4, 2026 Homeless Point In Time Census Results -January 2026 The purpose of this L TC is to transmit the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust's (Homeless Trust) results for the Point in Time (PIT) Census conducted on January 22-23, 2026, as noted in L TC #015-2026, dated January 20, 2026. Managed by the Homeless Trust, the Homeless Outreach Services Division, a division within the Department of Housing and Community Services, Miami Beach Police Department Homeless Resource Officers, and volunteers participated in the August PIT Census. According to the results by the Homeless Trust (see below), the City's unsheltered homeless population is 93. City of Miami-City of Miami, City Limits 605 City of Miami Beach-Miami Beach 93 Miami-Dade County-South Dade, South of Kendall Drive to Monroe County Line 175 Miami-Dade County-Unincorporated Miami- Dade County, North of Kendall Drive to Broward 311 County Line Subtotal-# of UNSHELTERED Homeless: 1,184 As recommended by the Homeless Trust, the City should compare current Point-in-Time (PIT) Census results with those from approximately one year prior to ensure accurate data analysis. Based on the latest PIT findings, the City of Miami Beach has experienced a 12% reduction in unsheltered homelessness since the comparable census conducted in January 2025, when 106 individuals were counted as unsheltered. We remain steadfast in our commitment to working collaboratively with City departments and community partners to comprehensively support the homeless population. Despite ongoing challenges, we are dedicated to advancing our mission of providing compassionate care to those in need through effective engagement, supportive services, and responsible enforcement.
