HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2026-34080RESOLUTION NO. 2026-34080 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AND ENCOURAGING THE MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE MIAMI BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT TO EACH CREATE, MARKET, AND SELL, AT A REASONABLE RATE, AN ANNUAL CALENDAR, STARTING WITH THE YEAR 2026 or 2027, USING CREATIVE PHOTOS OF DEPARTMENT STAFF, SIMILAR TO CALENDARS MADE AND SOLD BY OTHER DEPARTMENTS AROUND THE COUNTRY, WITH THE PROCEEDS TO BE DONATED BY THE CITY TO THE CHARITY OF EACH DEPARTMENT'S CHOICE EACH YEAR. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach recognizes the dedication and professionalism of the Miami Beach Police Department and the Miami Beach Fire Department, and values their contributions to the safety and well-being of the community; and WHEREAS, departments across the country have successfully created and sold annual calendars featuring creative photos of their personnel, generating public engagement and charitable contributions; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to authorize and encourage the Miami Beach Police Department and the Miami Beach Fire Department to each produce, market, and sell, at a reasonable rate, such calendars annually, beginning in 2026 or 2027 (whichever year being practicable); and WHEREAS, the proceeds from the sale of each department's calendar shall be donated by the City to a charitable organization selected by that department each year, thereby supporting worthy causes and enhancing community goodwill. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby authorize and encourage the Miami Beach Police Department and the Miami Beach Fire Department to each create, market, and sell, at a reasonable rate, an annual calendar, starting with the year 2026 or 2027, using creative photos of department staff, similar to calendars made and sold by other departments around the country, with the proceeds to be donated by the City to the charity of each department's choice each year.
