HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2026-34083RESOLUTION NO. 2026-34083 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO PAINT THE LIFEGUARD STAND LOCATED AT 8th STREET, UTILIZING EXISTING FUNDS, IN A PATRIOTIC THEME TO COMMEMORATE THE 250TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA; AND FURTHER, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO COORDINATE WITH THE SPONSORING COMMISSIONER ON THE DESIGN OF THE PATRIOTIC PAINT THEME. WHEREAS, July 4, 2026, will mark the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America, a historic milestone of national significance; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach ("City") has long celebrated national holidays and historic events through public programming and symbolic civic displays that foster community pride and patriotic recognition; and WHEREAS, the lifeguard stand located at 81h Street is a highly visible and frequently photographed public asset situated along the City's beautiful beachfront and serves as an iconic representation of Miami Beach; and WHEREAS, painting the 81h Street lifeguard stand in a patriotic theme would provide a meaningful, cost-effective, and visually impactful way to commemorate America's 250th anniversary; and WHEREAS, the City Administration shall work collaboratively with the sponsoring Commissioner of this Resolution to develop and finalize the design of the patriotic paint theme, consistent with applicable operational, safety, and aesthetic standards; and WHEREAS, such work can be accomplished, for approximately $1,500, utilizing existing City Administration funds and resources, without requiring additional budgetary appropriations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, hereby direct the City Administration to paint the lifeguard stand located at 81h Street, utilizing existing funds, in a patriotic theme to commemorate the 250' Anniversary of the United States of America; and further, directing the City Administration to coordinate with the sponsoring Commissioner on the design of the patriotic paint theme.
