HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2026-34089RESOLUTION NO. 2026-34089 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO INCLUDE THE INSTALLATION OF ARTIFICIAL TURF AT BAYSHORE PARK AS A BUDGET PRIORITY DURING THE FY 2027 BUDGET PROCESS; PROVIDING THAT IF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION DO NOT INCLUDE THIS WITHIN THE FY 2027 BUDGET, THEN DIRECTING THE ADMINISTRATION TO INSTALL ARTIFICIAL TURF AT BAYSHORE PARK PROVIDED THAT SUFFICIENT FUNDS REMAIN WITHIN THE PROJECT BUDGET AFTER PROJECT CLOSEOUT; AND FURTHER DIRECTING THE ADMINISTRATION TO CONSIDER USING ARTIFICIAL TURF IN THE CONSTRUCTION OR RENOVATION OF ALL FUTURE DOG PARKS IF THE COST IS NOT PROHIBITIVE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is committed to enhancing the quality and usability of its public parks for residents and visitors; and WHEREAS, Bayshore Park includes a designated dog park that serves as a popular amenity for pet owners; and WHEREAS, the installation of artificial turf in the dog park would improve durability, reduce maintenance costs, and provide a cleaner and safer environment for pets and their owners; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to prioritize this improvement during the FY 2027 budget process and, if not funded therein, implement the improvement only if sufficient funds remain within the Bayshore Park project budget after project closeout; and WHEREAS, the City Commission further seeks to establish a policy direction for considering artificial turf in all future dog park construction or renovation projects, provided the cost is not prohibitive. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby direct the City Administration to include the installation of artificial turf at Bayshore Park as a budget priority during the FY 2027 budget process; providing that if the Mayor and City Commission do not include this within the FY 2027 budget, then directing the administration to install artificial turf at Bayshore Park provided that sufficient funds remain within the project budget after project closeout; and further directing the Administration to consider using artificial turf in the construction or renovation of all future dog parks if the cost is not prohibitive.
