A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE ELIGIBILITY
OF MIAMI TAKEOVER, LLC TO APPLY TO THE MIAMI BEACH VISITOR AND
CONVENTION AUTHORITY (VCA) FOR A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF
THIRTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($35,000) TO SUPPORT THE 2026
MIAMI TAKEOVER EVENT.
WHEREAS, the Miami Takeover event has become a signature cultural and tourism
experience that promotes arts, music, and community engagement in the City of Miami Beach;
and
WHEREAS, the event attracts residents and visitors alike, showcasing local talent and
fostering cultural tourism that benefits the City's economy and enhances its reputation as a vibrant
destination; and
WHEREAS, attendees also have the opportunity to give back to the community by
participating in two community outreach projects: a beach clean-up and a dental screening at the
Overtown Youth Foundation; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (VCA) provides grant
funding to support events that enhance tourism and cultural programming in the City; and
WHEREAS, the City's current funding guidelines restrict Special Event Sponsorship
applicants from applying for any other City of Miami Beach funding outlet, including but not limited
to the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (VCA), unless directed and approved by the
Mayor and City Commission; and
WHEREAS, as the recipient of a Major Special Event Grant awarded by the City's
Department of Tourism and Culture, Miami TakeOver is currently unable to access a potential
grant from the VCA despite being an annual recipient of VCA grants since 2021; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to approve and authorize the eligibility
of Miami TakeOver to apply to the VCA for a grant in the amount of Thirty -Five Thousand Dollars
($35,000) to help ensure the success of the 2026 Miami Takeover.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby approve and authorize the eligibility of Miami TakeOver, LLC to apply to the
Miami Beach Visitor And Convention Authority (VCA) for a grant in the amount of Thirty -Five
Thousand Dollars ($35,000) to support the 2026 Miami TakeOver event.
