A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY
ADMINISTRATION TO PROMOTE A CULTURE OF PRIDE IN THE
CITY'S AESTHETIC APPEARANCE AND TO ENCOURAGE STAFF AT
ALL LEVELS TO PROACTIVELY ADDRESS ANY ISSUES IMPACTING
THE CITY'S VISUAL ENVIRONMENT; AND FURTHER, DIRECTING THE
CITY ADMINISTRATION TO ELIMINATE SUPERFLUOUS DIGITAL
MESSAGE BOARDS IN PUBLIC SPACES.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is internationally recognized for its beauty,
historic architecture, and vibrant public spaces, which contribute to its reputation as a
world -class destination; and
WHEREAS, maintaining the City's aesthetic appeal requires ongoing attention and
proactive action by staff at all levels to identify and resolve issues that may detract from
the City's visual environment; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission believe that fostering a sense of pride
and ownership among City employees will enhance service delivery and ensure that the
City remains clean, attractive, and welcoming for residents and visitors alike; and
WHEREAS, the City's visual environment directly impacts quality of life, economic
vitality, and tourism, making its upkeep a priority for the community and the City's brand, -
and
WHEREAS, particular attention should be given to the maintenance and
cleanliness of public rights -of -way, including sidewalks, medians, and landscaped areas,
as these spaces are highly visible and heavily utilized by residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, empowering employees to act with foresight and take initiative in
addressing maintenance and beautification needs will help prevent small issues from
becoming larger problems and reinforce the City's commitment to excellence; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration plays a critical role in motivating staff and
implementing policies that prioritize the City's appearance as a core value of municipal
operations; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission also desire that the Administration
use its best efforts to eliminate superfluous digital message boards in public spaces to
avoid visual clutter and maintain a clean, cohesive streetscape.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby direct the City Administration to promote a culture of pride in the
City's aesthetic appearance and to encourage staff at all levels to proactively address any
issues impacting the City's visual environment, and further, direct the City Administration
to eliminate superfluous digital message boards in public spaces.
