A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER
TO COORDINATE WITH SUNSET ISLANDS 3 AND 4 PROPERTY
OWNERS, INC., THE HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION REGISTERED
FOR SUNSET ISLANDS 3 AND 4, TO DESIGN AND INSTALL
APPROPRIATE TRAFFIC CALMING DEVICES ON SUNSET DRIVE,
LOCATED ON SUNSET ISLANDS 3 AND 4 IN MIAMI BEACH.
WHEREAS, Sunset Drive is the main roadway that bisects Sunset Islands 3 and 4,
commencing at the intersection of 20th Street and North Bay Road, and extending to the
intersection of Sunset Drive and W 24th Street; and
WHEREAS, residents on Sunset Islands 3 and 4 have raised concerns regarding
vehicular speeding and pedestrian safety; and
WHEREAS, traffic calming devices, such as speed humps, raised crosswalks, or other
appropriate measures, are proven strategies to reduce speeding and enhance safety; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission hereby direct the City Manager to coordinate
with Sunset Islands 3 and 4 Property Owners, Inc., the homeowners association registered for
Sunset Islands 3 and 4, to design and install appropriate traffic calming devices on Sunset Drive,
located on Sunset Islands 3 and 4, in compliance with all applicable City, County, and State
requirements; and
WHEREAS, if possible, the proposed traffic calming measures shall be implemented using
available funding sources in the Fiscal Year 2026 budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Manager is hereby
directed to coordinate with Sunset Islands 3 and 4 Property Owners, Inc., the homeowners
association registered for Sunset Islands 3 and 4, to design and install appropriate traffic calming
devices on Sunset Drive, located on Sunset Islands 3 and 4 in Miami Beach.
