A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION FROM THE BARRY S. STERNLICHT
FOUNDATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000 FOR THE CITY'S 2026
PROGRAMMING FOR COMMUNITY SENIORS; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO APPROPRIATE SUCH DONATED FUNDS IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE TERMS OF THE DONOR'S GIFT, AS SPECIFIED IN
THIS RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, for decades, the City of Miami Beach has had a significant population of
seniors and elderly residents who have chosen to retire in this beautiful tropical paradise; and
WHEREAS, the strength of a community is reflected in its commitment to care for those
who have contributed so much throughout their lives, ensuring dignity, engagement, and well-
being for its senior residents; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach invests significantly in programs and services
designed to enhance the quality of life for seniors, including nutritious meal services, health and
wellness initiatives, and activities that foster social connection and community engagement; and
WHEREAS, Miami Beach resident Barry Sternlicht shares the City's dedication to
supporting seniors and wishes to donate $10,000.00 from the Barry S. Sternlicht Foundation, with
the express request that the funds be used for senior programming and activities; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission, with gratitude, desire to accept the donation
from the Barry S. Sternlicht Foundation and further approve the expenditure of the donated funds
in accordance with the donor's express request.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby approve and authorize the acceptance of a donation from the Barry S.
Sternlicht Foundation in the amount of $10,000 for the City's 2026 programming for community
seniors; and further authorize the City Manager to appropriate such donated funds in accordance
with the terms of the donor's gift, as specified in this Resolution.
