A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING CLEAN
MIAMI BEACH, INC.'S REQUEST FOR A WAIVER OF THE CITY'S
SQUARE FOOTAGE FEE, PENDING COMPLETION OF THE
CITY'S APPLICATION PROCESS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $8,534.88 FOR THE USE OF COLLINS PARK FOR THE
ORGANIZATION'S ECOFEST EVENT TO BE HELD ON
FEBRUARY 7, 2026.
WHEREAS, Clean Miami Beach, Inc. ("Clean Miami Beach") is a local nonprofit
organization dedicated to environmental stewardship, sustainability, and community
engagement through educational programs and cleanup initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission approved a grant of $45,000.00 to
Clean Miami Beach, via Resolution No. 2024-33094 on June 26, 2024 and Resolution
No. 2024-33364 on November 20, 2024, and to assist Clean Miami Beach with its efforts
to keep the City and its beautiful beaches clean and plastic -free by producing various
events; and
WHEREAS, Clean Miami Beach proposes to hold its EcoFest event ("the Event")
on February 7, 2026, at Collins Park, to promote environmental awareness and
sustainable practices among residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, EcoFest will feature interactive exhibits, workshops, and activities
designed to educate the public on reducing plastic pollution, protecting marine
ecosystems, and fostering a cleaner, greener Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, Clean Miami Beach is obligated to pay fees for the Event, to include
a square footage fee in an amount not to exceed $8,534.88; and
WHEREAS, Clean Miami Beach has demonstrated that securing sponsorship and
financial support for EcoFest is crucial due to the nonprofit nature of the organization and
its commitment to providing free public access to the Event; and
WHEREAS, a waiver of these fees would alleviate financial challenges, ensuring
that the Event remains accessible to all community members and continues to advance
the City's sustainability goals; and
WHEREAS, based upon the foregoing, the Mayor and City Commission approve
a waiver of the square footage fee for the Event, pending completion of the City's
application process, in an amount not to exceed $8,534.88 for the use of Collins Park for
EcoFest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby approve Clean Miami Beach, Inc.'s request for a waiver of the square
footage fee, pending completion of the City's application process, in an amount not to
exceed S8,534.88, for the use of Collins Park for the organization's EcoFest event to be
held on February 7, 2026.
