Miami Beach Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
— With Events Planned Throughout the City—
Miami Beach, FL – In recognition of the contributions of Hispanic residents and culture, the
City of Miami Beach will hold a number of events to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month,
which runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.
“The Hispanic community is woven into the fabric of Miami Beach—its art, culture, and spirit
have shaped our city in lasting ways,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. “Hispanic
Heritage Month is a time to honor that living legacy and celebrate the generations whose
creativity, vision, and cultural depth continue to inspire us all.”
“Hispanic Heritage Month is a reminder that our stories are not only about the past, but about
the future we continue building together,” added Miami Beach Commissioner Alex
Fernandez. “As a Hispanic American, I carry deep gratitude for this country — for the
sacrifices of the generations before us, and for those who continue the journey with courage
and resilience, working hard, giving back, and gifting us a rich cultural legacy that shapes who
we are today.”
The following FREE events are happening throughout the city:
• Hispanic Heritage Festival
Friday, Sept. 19 from 6-9 p.m. at North Shore Park, 501 72 Street
The city’s Annual Hispanic Heritage Festival will feature rides and bounce houses,
performances by the Parks & Recreation after-school program, food vendors and arts &
crafts.
• Miami Beach OnStage! LIVE En La Playa
Saturday, Sept. 20 from 5-7 p.m. at Altos del Mar Park, 241 77 Street
The City of Miami Beach’s OnStage! Series will kick off with Jacuzzi Boys, a high-
energy tribute to their favorite Spanish pop tunes. The performance will also feature
Sonora Tukukuy, DJ Le Spam and the Mobile Dále Zine Truck will be transformed into
a traveling gallery showcasing Cumbia-inspired artwork, including vintage record
covers, label logos, and poster designs. Guests will be invited to create their own
Cumbia-style poster or LP cover, using popular fonts, colors and design elements
drawn from the genre’s rich visual history.
• Library's Story Troupe at Miami Beach Regional
Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Miami Beach Regional Library,
227 22 Street
Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with the Library's Story Troupe and enjoy
some storytelling and Mr. J's Bilingual Bash, an engaging jam session celebrating
classic children's songs and books in English and Spanish.
• Sounds & Colors of Hispano-America
Sunday, Sept. 21, 1-2:30 p.m. at Miami Beach Botanical Garden,
2000 Convention Center Drive
The Miami Beach Botanical Garden will host an afternoon of music, art, unique cultural
celebration, and joyful connection! Gabriela Esquivel and friends invite you to
experience a vibrant artistic fusion celebrating the rich cultures of Hispano America and
the United States.
• Three Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series Performances in Lummus Park
Ocean Drive between 14 Street & 14 Place
The Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series is a free weekly concert series presented by
the Ocean Drive Association with support from the City of Miami Beach and the Greater
Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn
chair. In case of rain, the following performances will take place inside The Betsy Hotel
located at 1440 Ocean Drive.
Cortadito
Sunday, Sept. 21 from 6-7 p.m.
Experience the rhythms of traditional Son Cuban music with Miami-based ensemble
Cortadito as they bring their signature sound to Lummus Park. Cortadito specializes in
Son, one of the earliest forms of Cuban country music, and has built a strong local and
national following for their acoustic, Buena Vista Social Club–inspired sound.
Niuver
Sunday, Sept. 28 from 6-7 p.m.
Discover a cross-cultural blend of Latin roots and global influences as singer-songwriter
Niuver brings her soulful sound to the lawn at Lummus Park. Born in Cuba and now
based in Paris, Niuver draws on her experiences living in Spain, the U.S. and France to
craft songs that reflect a richly layered musical identity. A guitarist and laud player, she
performs original material that blends Latin American folk traditions with contemporary
acoustic textures.
Melodia Y Rumba
Sunday, Oct. 5 from 6-7 p.m.
Feel the energy of contemporary salsa and classic Latin rhythms as Melodia Y Rumba
takes the stage in a lively open-air performance. Founded by bassist and composer
Osmany “Ozzie” Gonzalez, Melodia Y Rumba is a 10-piece ensemble that blends
traditional salsa with modern influences. Featuring lead vocalist Melissa Cruz, the group
delivers a dynamic sound that reflects the cultural influences of Miami’s Latin music
scene.
• Three Rhythm Foundation Events at the Miami Beach Bandshell

Ballet Folklorico Antumapu
Friday, Oct. 3, 7 p.m.
The Ballet Folklórico Antumapu Universidad de Chile presents Chiliche – Gente de
Chile, a colorful and moving stage production with a folkloric ensemble of 20+ dancers
that celebrates the cultural richness of the Chilean people through dance, music, and
ancestral traditions. This performance journeys through the diverse landscapes and
expressions of the country, from the mystical Rapa Nui to the vibrant rhythms of the
north and south
Miami Beach Salsa Fest
Sunday, Oct. 5, 4-10 p.m.
Join the City of Miami Beach’s Hispanic Affairs Committee for Miami Beach Salsa Fest
featuring Melina Almodóvar “La Muñeca de la Salsa,” Jacareo, DJ Cristi Hernz, a senior
salsa dance competition, free salsa lessons and much more.
Festival de Bomba y Plena MB
Sunday Oct. 12, 6 p.m.
The Festival de Bomba y Plena Miami Beach, presented by Afro Borinken Roots, is a
free, family-friendly event celebrating the vibrant Afro-Puerto Rican traditions of music
and dance. Audiences will experience the heartbeat of Puerto Rico through the
powerful rhythms of barrel drums, expressive dance, and joyful call-and-response
songs.
• Miami Beach OnStage! featuring Miamibloco’s Bateria Saideira with Rum & Coke
Thursday, Oct. 16, 6- 9 p.m. at the Euclid Oval on Lincoln Road
The City of Miami Beach’s OnStage! program presents another iteration of a samba
percussion orchestra performance by Miamibloco and grooves by Rum & Coke on
Lincoln Road. Kick off the night with a retro Afro-Caribbean dance set hosted by
residents DJ Kumi, Harold Fandino, and Jesus Rodriguez from 6-7:30 p.m., followed by
two back-to-back samba performances by Miamibloco at 7:30 and 8:15 p.m.
