Miami Beach Police Robbery Detectives were notified by the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force regarding a lead on a wanted fugitive believed to be within the City of Miami Beach. The defendant, identified as Dshante Styles, who possesses an extensive and violent criminal history, had an active fugitive warrant issued by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) for sex trafficking, disobeying a police officer, and endangering other persons and property. Through joint investigative efforts and the use of advanced technology, including License Plate Reader (LPR) data and FBI intelligence, detectives identified a rental minivan operated by the defendant in the 400 block of 10 Street. When Miami Beach detectives attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled the area. The suspect’s vehicle was later located in North Bay Village, where Miami Beach Robbery Detectives, the Strategic Enforcement Team, and FBI agents conducted surveillance and observed the defendant exiting the vehicle. Upon contact, the defendant attempted to flee on foot, however, was apprehended after a short pursuit and taken into custody without further incident. A review of Styles’ criminal background revealed an extensive and violent record, including prior arrests for armed robbery, sex trafficking, kidnapping, firearms violations, fraud, burglary, grand theft auto, domestic battery, and parole violations. In addition to the outstanding fugitive warrant, he now faces new charges of fleeing and eluding a police officer. “This arrest underscores the power of partnership and the value of proactive policing,” said Chief Wayne A. Jones. “This individual posed a significant danger to our community and others across the country. Thanks to the coordination and diligence of our detectives and federal partners, a violent offender is now off the streets.” Body-worn camera footage and media availability are available upon request. ###
