WHEREAS,protecting the welfare of stray and abandoned animals in the City of Miami Beach promotes the public health,safety,and welfare;and The Miami Beach Animal Welfare Committee shall be composed of nine voting members as follows: WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Commission established the Miami Beach Animal Welfare Committee (the “Committee”)pursuant to Ordinance No.2018-4212 to study and make recommendations to the City Commission regarding animal welfare programs and community solutions to issues affecting the well-being of such animals;and WHEREAS,the Committee is comprised of nine voting members,two of whom are recommended by specifically identified animal welfare groups located in the City and ratified by the City Commission;and WHEREAS,the City Commission desires additional flexibility to appoint a voting representative from among a broader range of animal welfare groups.
