A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING
SUNSET PADEL FOR ITS GENEROUS CONTRIBUTIONS AND
COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP IN HOSTING A FUNDRAISING EVENT IN
HONOR OF MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT SERGEANT DAVID
CAJUSO; AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A
CERTIFIED COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO REPRESENTATIVES OF
SUNSET PADEL.
WHEREAS, Miami Beach Police Department Sergeant David Cajuso tragically
lost his life in the line of duty, but his service, professionalism, and sacrifice have had a
profound and lasting impact on the City of Miami Beach and its residents; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission desire to honor the memory of
Sergeant Cajuso and to express gratitude to those who have demonstrated compassion
and support for his family during this most difficult time; and
WHEREAS, Sunset Padel, a Miami Beach —based recreational and community
organization located in the Sunset Harbour neighborhood, hosted a charitable
fundraising event that included padel matches, community participation activities, and
sponsorship opportunities, for the purpose of raising funds and awareness to support the
family of Sergeant Cajuso; and
WHEREAS, the fundraising event was held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, and
brought together community leaders, notable sports figures, and residents, reflecting the
widespread impact of Sergeant Cajuso's sacrifice and the profound respect and unity he
inspired throughout the Miami Beach community and beyond; and
WHEREAS, due to the extraordinary outpouring of community support, more than
$165,000 was raised and presented to Sergeant Cajuso's widow, Eileen Cajuso, to assist
in supporting her and their three young children during this difficult time; and
WHEREAS, the fundraising event generated both financial and moral support for
Sergeant Cajuso's family and reflected the strong community spirit and civic
responsibility that define the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to recognize and commend
Sunset Padel for its generosity, leadership, and outstanding community support in
honoring the memory of Sergeant Cajuso and providing assistance to his family, and to
extend heartfelt appreciation to Sunset Padel and all participants and sponsors for their
compassion and civic engagement; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission further desire that a certified copy of
this Resolution be transmitted to representatives of Sunset Padel in recognition of their
efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, hereby recognize and
commend Sunset Padel for its generous contributions and community leadership in
hosting a fundraising event in honor of Miami Beach Police Department Sergeant David
Cajuso; and direct the City Clerk to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to
representatives of Sunset Padel.
