A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING THE VALUABLE CONTRIBUTIONS OF CULTURAL AND NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO THE COMMUNITY, AND ENCOURAGING THESE ORGANIZATIONS TO PROACTIVELY EXPLORE DIVERSE FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES IN LIGHT OF POTENTIAL BUDGETARY LIMITATIONS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2026 AND BEYOND; AND FURTHER ENCOURAGING ADVANCED PLANNING TO HELP MITIGATE POSSIBLE REDUCTIONS IN CITY SUPPORT; AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO ALL CULTURAL AND NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THAT RECEIVED CITY GRANT FUNDING DURING FY 2024 AND FY 2025. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach deeply values the role of cultural and non-profit organizations in enriching the community's vibrancy, diversity, and quality of life; and WHEREAS, the City has proudly supported many of these organizations through grant funding to help sustain their operations and programming; and WHEREAS, the City is currently navigating fiscal challenges that may affect the development of the Fiscal Year 2026 budget and future financial planning; and WHEREAS, while the City remains committed to supporting its cultural and non-profit partners, it is prudent to acknowledge that budgetary constraints may impact discretionary funding, including grants; and WHEREAS, the City encourages these organizations to begin exploring and securing additional funding sources—such as private philanthropy, sponsorships, foundation grants, and earned revenue—to help ensure their continued success and service to the community; and WHEREAS, early planning and diversification of funding streams will help strengthen organizational resilience and adaptability in the face of potential changes in City support. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby recognize the valuable contributions of cultural and non-profit organizations to the community, and encourage these organizations to proactively explore diverse funding opportunities in light of potential budgetary limitations for Fiscal Year 2026 and beyond; and further encourage advanced planning to help mitigate possible reductions in City support; and direct the City Clerk to transmit a copy of this Resolution to all cultural and non-profit organizations that received City grant funding during FY 2024 and FY 2025.
