HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2026-34180RESOLUTION NO. 2026-34180 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO MAKE THE INSTALLATION OF A FUEL DISPENSER SYSTEM AT FIRE STATION # 2, HAVING AN APPROXIMATE COST OF $85,000, A BUDGET PRIORITY DURING THE CITY'S FISCAL YEAR 2027 BUDGET PROCESS, IN ORDER TO IMPROVE OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY, EMERGENCY READINESS, AND RESPONSE CAPABILITIES FOR FIRE APPARATUS, ALONG WITH REDUCING TRAVEL TIME ASSOCIATED WITH THE CURRENT OFF -SITE FUELING SYSTEM AND DECREASING UNNECESSARY MILEAGE AND WEAR ON THE CITY'S FIRE APPARATUS. WHEREAS, the installation of a diesel fuel dispenser system connected to the existing 3,000-gallon diesel fuel storage tank at Fire Station # 2 has been proposed in order to improve operational efficiency, emergency readiness, and response capabilities for fire apparatus; and WHEREAS, currently, fire apparatus assigned to Fire Station # 2 must travel to the City's fueling facility on Terminal Island in order to refuel; and WHEREAS, this requirement causes Fire Department units to leave their primary service area for extended periods of time, increases travel time, and reduces operational availability for emergency response; and WHEREAS, the installation of a dedicated diesel fuel dispenser system at Fire Station # 2 would significantly reduce unnecessary travel and help ensure that Fire apparatus remain within their designated response district; and WHEREAS, the City has obtained a proposal from Gulfstream Petroleum Services, Inc. for the installation of the fueling dispenser system, with an estimated cost of approximately $85,000; and WHEREAS, the estimated cost assumes the ability to utilize existing electrical outlets located on the ceiling of the truck bay at Fire Station # 2, adjacent to the charging reels, and further assumes that programming of the new card reader will be completed by the City rather than by the contractor; and WHEREAS, the installation of this system would improve response readiness by allowing fire apparatus to remain within their assigned district, reduce travel time associated with the current offsite fueling system, and decrease unnecessary mileage and wear on fire apparatus; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission desire to ensure that adequate funding is considered and prioritized for the installation of a fuel dispenser system at Fire Station # 2 during the City's Fiscal Year 2027 budget process. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby direct the City Administration to make the installation of a fuel dispenser system at Fire Station # 2, having an approximate cost of $85,000, a budget priority during the City's Fiscal Year 2027 budget process, in order to improve operational efficiency, emergency readiness, and response capabilities for fire apparatus, along with reducing travel time associated with the current off -site fueling system and decreasing unnecessary mileage and wear on the City's fire apparatus.
