A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING BIG BLUE
& YOU'S REQUEST FOR A WAIVER OF CITY FEES, PENDING
COMPLETION OF THE CITY'S APPLICATION PROCESS, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $5,000.00, FOR FACILITY RENTAL
FEES ($2,500.00) AND TECHNICAL FEES ($2,500.00) FOR THE
USE OF THE MIAMI BEACH BANDSHELL FOR THE "ART BY
THE SEA FESTIVAL" TO BE HELD ON MARCH 22, 2026.
WHEREAS, Big Blue & You (the "Organization") is a local nonprofit entity
dedicated to empowering youth to become ocean stewards through education, art, and
community engagement; and
WHEREAS, the Organization produces the annual "Art by the Sea Festival," a free,
family -friendly event featuring interactive art activities, ocean -science learning stations,
performances, and environmental programming designed to fostercommunity awareness
and participation in marine conservation; and
WHEREAS, the Organization proposes to hold the 2026 Art by the Sea Festival
(the "Event") on March 22, 2026, at the Miami Beach Bandshell, inviting residents and
visitors to participate in creative, educational, and environmentally focused programming;
and
WHEREAS, the Organization is obligated to pay City fees associated with the
Event, including Facility Rental Fees in the amount of $2,500.00 and Technical Fees in
the amount of $2,500.00, for a combined total amount not to exceed $5,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the Organization has demonstrated that securing sponsorship and
financial assistance is essential due to its nonprofit status and its commitment to offering
this community -focused Event at no cost to the public; and
WHEREAS, a waiver of the above -referenced fees would alleviate financial
constraints, helping ensure that the Event remains accessible to all community members
and continues to support the City's sustainability and cultural engagement goals; and
WHEREAS, based upon the foregoing, the Mayor and City Commission approve
a waiver of the Facility Rental Fees and Technical Fees, pending completion of the City's
application process, in an amount not to exceed $5,000.00, for the use of the Miami Beach
Bandshell for the Art by the Sea Festival on March 22, 2026.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby approve Big Blue & You's request for a waiver of the Facility Rental
Fees and Technical Fees, pending completion of the City's application process, in an
amount not to exceed $5,000.00, for the use of the Miami Beach Bandshell for the Art by
the Sea Festival to be held on March 22, 2026.
