HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2026-34191RESOLUTION NO. 2026-34191 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO REGULARLY MONITOR BEACHWALK CAMERA FEEDS TO IDENTIFY AND ADDRESS ANY VISIBILITY ISSUES; AND TO TAKE NECESSARY MEASURES TO REMOVE OBSTRUCTIONS THAT MAY IMPAIR CAMERA VIEWS, INCLUDING THE TRIMMING OF LANDSCAPING AND OTHER RELEVANT ACTIONS TO MAINTAIN CLEAR SIGHTLINES FOR PUBLIC SAFETY PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach maintains camera surveillance along the beachwalk as part of its commitment to public safety, crime prevention, and situational awareness; and WHEREAS, the effective operation of these cameras relies on unobstructed visibility to allow for continuous and reliable monitoring; and WHEREAS, overgrowth of landscaping and natural vegetation in proximity to camera locations can gradually diminish sightlines, especially during periods of rapid plant growth or inclement weather; and WHEREAS, prompt identification of visibility issues ensures timely maintenance and avoids prolonged periods of compromised surveillance; and WHEREAS, routine inspections and vegetation management are cost-effective preventive measures that help safeguard public spaces and reduce the likelihood of criminal activity; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach continually seeks to uphold high standards of transparency, accountability, and technological effectiveness in its public safety infrastructure. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby direct the City Administration to regularly monitor beachwalk camera feeds to identify and address any visibility issues; and to take necessary measures to remove obstructions that may impair camera views, including the trimming of landscaping and other relevant actions to maintain clear sightlines for public safety purposes.
