The TPBPFC formally opposes this cancellation and respectfully requests that the Mayor and City Commission reconsider this action. The Shared-Use Path is a long-established "Priority 1"project in both the City's Bicycle-Pedestrian Master Plan and Transportation Master Plan, intended to close a critical network gap and serve a broad community benefit. It is also a 2018 voter-approved G.O. Bond project. When concerns emerged in 2022,the TPBPFC reaffirmed its support (via LTC 395-2022),leading to significant redesign, interagency coordination, and additional public investment. The City Commission subsequently approved the redesigned project on January 31,2024. Since that approval, substantial taxpayer funds, consultant work, staff resources, and FOOT-supported coordination have been committed to advance the project.Canceling it at this stage jeopardizes these investments and undermines the City's adopted plans and mobility priorities. The Committee is also concerned that Item C7U was added to the February 25 agenda without adequate notice, limiting community participation;that deliberation centered primarily on a small group of residents;and that neither the TPBPFC nor the G.O.Bond Oversight Committee was afforded the opportunity to provide input despite their previous involvement. For these reasons, the TPBPFC respectfully urges the Mayor and City Commission to reverse the cancellation of the Chase Avenue/34th Street Shared-Use Path Project and allow this vital connection to proceed. Sincerely, Transportation,Parking &Bicycle-Pedestrian Facilities Committee
