Miami Beach Police Department Launches Art Deco District Bike Squad with New E-Bike Fleet
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to inform the Mayor and City Commission of the
Miami Beach Police Department's new fleet of six (6) electric RECON Interceptor Police Power
Bikes, which will support the launch of a dedicated Art Deco District Bike Squad. The new fleet will
be formally unveiled on April 08, 2026 at 2:00 PM, at the Miami Beach Police Headquarters
located at 1100 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139.
The electric bicycles were generously donated to the Police Department by the Andres Asion Foundation, following the adoption of Resolution 2026-34071. These bicycles will be deployed as part of the newly established Art Deco District Bike Squad, an important component of the Department's broader strategy to enhance visibility, responsiveness, and community engagement.
This initiative is designed to address key public safety and quality-of-life concerns within the Art Deco District, including micromobility enforcement, traffic enforcement, and other issues affecting residents and visitors. The enhanced mobility and accessibility provided by the electric bicycles will allow officers to navigate dense, pedestrian-heavy environments with greater efficiency while maintaining an approachable and responsive presence. The Bike Squad will operate as a
permanent unit within the Department, reinforcing the City's commitment to innovative public safety
solutions and community-oriented policing.
The City Administration extends its sincere gratitude to the Andres Asian Foundation for its generous investment in public safety and its continued support of initiatives that improve the quality of life throughout our community.
