LTC #152-2026 LETTER TO COMMISSION
TO: Honorable Mayor Steven Meiner and Members of the City Commission
FROM V RafRtBA'/i8 Cler
DATE: April 15, 2025
SUBJECT: Police/Citizens Relations Committee Motion
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to inform the Mayor & City Commission of a
recent motion passed by the Police/Citizens Relations Committee at their April 14, 2026 meeting.
MOTION
In 2019, the G.O. Bond program was passed by the voters. Part of'that program was a
rebuild of.the police department's main campus on Washington Avenue. This has been a
slow-go process with limited progress.
In the meantime, the police building is falling into disrepair. Walls need painting, baseboarqs are falling apart, lighting is dim in certain areas, etc. While we are waiting for the G. 0. Bond's rebuild, the Police/Citizens Relations Committee is requesting that a maintenance crew be sent out to paint walls and do other repairs as necessary.
A first-class city should have a first-class police facility, and this one needs repair.
