SUBJECT: Black Affairs Advisory Committee Motions – April 7, 2026 The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to update the Mayor and Commission on a motion made during the April 7, 2026, Black Affairs Advisory Committee ("BAAC") Meeting. Motion:
The BAAC congratulates the Mayor and City Commission, all City Departments, and especially the men and women of the Miami Beach Police and Goodwill Ambassadors for a successful and safe Spring Break high-impact season, which included health and wellness initiatives. Through their discretion and professionalism, for three straight years, Spring Break in Miami Beach has occurred without major incident, with arrests in South Beach down 24% and arrests overall down 14%, while still maintaining a quality experience for visitors and residents, without a Zero-Tolerance policing policy.
Motion was made by Valerie Crawford, seconded by William Warren and passed unanimously.
