This Letter to Commission provides an update on a professional development workshop being
organized by the Education and Performance Initiatives Division in partnership with the Miami
Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) Department of Advanced Academic Programs. The
workshop, titled Leading and Managing Teams, will take place on August 4-5, 2026, at Miami
Beach Nautilus Middle School. It is intended for elected officials and public-school administrators.
Since the City of Miami Beach established the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program at all
Miami Beach public schools in 2008 through the Education Compact with M-DCPS, each school
has earned and maintained IB World School status. The IB program provides a rigorous curriculum
that promotes critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and academic excellence.
Students pursuing the IB Diploma complete advanced coursework that prepares them for
postsecondary pathways. Miami Beach Senior High School continues to lead in the percentage of
students earning the IB Diploma. The diploma offers significant financial value for families,
providing up to 30 college credits and guaranteeing eligibility for the highest tier of the Florida
