Granado, City Clerk DATE: May 6, 2026 SUBJECT: Black Affairs Advisory Committee Motions – May 5, 2026 The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to update the Mayor and Commission on a motion made during the May 5, 2026, Black Affairs Advisory Committee ("BAAC") Meeting. Motion: The BAAC congratulates the American Black Film Festival (ABFF), the premier annual event dedicated to empowering emerging talent and showcasing film and television content by and about people of African descent, for reaching its 30th anniversary milestone. The BAAC believes that the ABFF is an integral part of the Miami Beach special event schedule, the City's multiyear funding has allowed greater access for residents, visitors and tourists to experience the event, while also educating and preparing the next generation of film industry professional through the educational program, and by bringing awareness to the importance of supporting the development of diverse content. The BAAC strongly encourages the City of Miami Beach to continue its financial support of ABFF, and we look forward to the Inaugural Miami Beach Black History Tour curated by the BAAC and Key2MIA Tours that will be launched during this year's festival. Motion was made by Bill Warren, seconded by Bibi Andrade and passed unanimously.
