A person holding elective or appointive county,m unicipal,or other local public offi ce MU ST ABSTAIN from voting on a measure which
w o uld inure to his or he r special private gain or loss.Each elected or appointed local officer also M UST ABSTAIN from know ingly voting on
a m easure w hich w ould inure to the special gain or loss of a principal (other than a govern m ent agency)by w hom he or she is retained
(incl uding the parent,subsidiary ,or sibling organization of a principal by w hich he or she is retained);to the special private gain or loss of a
relative;or to the special private gain or loss of a business associate.Com m issioners of co m m unity redevelopm ent agencies (CRA s)under
Se c.16 3.356 or 16 3.357,F.S.,and offi cers of independent special tax districts elected on a one-acre,one-vote basis are not pro hibited

Fo r purposes of this law ,a "relative"includes only the offi cer's father,m other,son,daughter,husband,w ife,bro ther,sister,father-in-law,
m other-in-law ,son-in-law ,and daughter-in-law .A "business associate"m eans any person or entity engaged in or carrying on a business
enterprise w ith the offi cer as a partner,joint venture r,coow ner of pro perty,or corporate shareholder (w here the shares of the co rporation
are not listed on any national or regional stock exchange).

At the April 22,2026 regular meeting of the Miami Beach City Commission,I abstained from discussing and
voting on Agenda Item C4 O,which is a Referral to the City's Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee
pertaining to a grant request by the World Affairs Council,a non-profit organization,to sponsor Miami Beach
Senior High School students to attend the Academic WorldQuest Championship in Washington,D.C.,in April
2026.I abstained from participating and voting on this matter because I serve as a volunteer member of the
Board of Directors of the World Affairs Council.I am not paid for my service as a member of the Board.
If disclosure of specific information would violate confidentiality or privilege pursuant to law or rules governing attorneys,a public officer,
who is also an attorn ey,may comply with the disclosure requirements of this section by disclosing the nature of the interest in such a way
as to pro vide the public with notice of the conflict.
