SUBJECT: Memorial Day Weekend 2026
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to provide an overview of the 2026 Memorial
Day weekend events along with the City's comprehensive preparations and public safety efforts.
This year, Memorial Day weekend launches the city's commemoration of America 250. As
residents and visitors gather to honor our brave service members, the City of Miami Beach
proudly begins a season-long tribute reflecting on America's 250 years of independence.
As in previous years, we anticipate an increase in the number of visitors to Miami
Beach for Memorial Day weekend. As one of the City's major high-impact weekends, Miami
Beach will once again host the Hyundai Air & Sea Show alongside a variety of other events outlined below.
Here's the complete list of events:
Galeria Ocean Drive -Miami Beach FREEDOM
The city will open a special outdoor exhibit on Thursday, May 21 at 4 p.m. to celebrate
patriotism, culture and our coastal lifestyle. Curated by the Office of the Mayor and Commission, the new exhibit will be unveiled in partnership with the Hyundai Air & Sea Show and supported
by the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. The exhibit runs through July 15.
Salute on Espanola Way Block Party
On Friday, May 22 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., join the Hyundai Air & Sea Show for a free public
event dedicated to honoring the military. The festivities take place on Espanola Way, a charming pedestrian-only street in Miami Beach where vibrant music and a patriotic street party
to celebrate and show support for the U.S. Military. A live performance by The Flyers, South
Florida's Premiere Power Trio, creates a festive atmosphere as attendees savor a variety of
delicious food and drinks from local restaurants.
Murph Challenge The City of Miami Beach in collaboration with U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion -Miami and Yellow
Falcon Cross-Fit presents the Murph Challenge on Saturday, May 23 from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
in Lummus Park between 11 and 12 streets. The challenge consists of two 1-mile runs, 100
pullups, 200 pushups and 300 air squats. The goal is to complete all events in the fastest time possible. Advance registration is required and there is no cost to participate.
