SUBJECT: City of Miami Beach 2026 State Appropriations
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to provide an update regarding the City of MiamiBeach's state appropriations following the conclusion of the 2026 Legislative Session and approvalof the State budget.
The Florida Legislature has approved the State budget, and following the Governor's review andsignature, the City of Miami Beach secured $3,400,000 in state appropriations for three priorityprojects that support critical infrastructure, public safety, resilience, and community facilityimprovements.
This achievement reflects the City's continued advocacy efforts and the close coordination amongthe City of Miami Beach legislative team, the City's advocacy partners in Tallahassee, and externalpartners throughout the 2026 Legislative Session. The Administration extends its appreciation toour sponsors, Senator Ana Maria Rodriguez, Senator Ileana Garcia, and Senator Shevrin Jones,Representative Alex Rizo, Representative Fabian Basabe, Representative Mike Redondo, andRepresentative Omar Blanco, for their support and leadership in advancing the City's legislativepriorities.
The Administration also extends its appreciation to the City's Tallahassee advocacy partners:Capital City Consulting, LLC; Rubin, Turnbull & Associates, Inc.; and Rutledge Ecenia, P.A., fortheir strategic guidance, diligent work, and continued support throughout the 2026 LegislativeSession.
The following City projects were approved for funding:
State Road 907 -Alton Road Reconstruction
Appropriation: $900,000
This appropriation will support needed upgrades to City-owned water and sewer infrastructurealong Alton Road, from Michigan Avenue to Chase Avenue, including a new sanitary sewer pumpstation near Alton Road and 27th Street. These improvements will strengthen essential utilitysystems, support public health, and help protect established neighborhoods that are important tothe City's residential character and tourism economy.
