Please include the number of events, participants, locations and audience to be served. Also, please include a brief statement indicating how this event will be made available to the public. NARRATIVE OR DESCRIPTION The Arts & Business Council of Miami plans to create and host an Audience Development Seminar and Meet the Arts networking lunch program on Miami Beach in May of 1999, The progra~ will be held in the Loews ~iami Beach hotel on a weekday. The day will begin with a three-hour seminar, hosted by Amencan Express, for arts executives and cultural board members. The seminar topic, "Audience Diversity - Reaching the Hispanic, African American and Caribbean Markets". is an important one, Experts from public relations firms and community relations executives will serve as faculty for the program. The lunch program will begin with a networking reception featuring a Media Showcase. The Media Showcase will feature representatives from a variety of media that reach our diverse South Florida population. Newspaper, radio and television representatives will provide demographic information about their publication or station and advertising rates. The lunch meeting will include a key note address and panel discussion, Primary goals include: I. To help arts organizations better understand the marketplace in which they operate and recognize the benefits of an aggressive, outward looking audience development effort, 2. To help institute long-term systemic change within arts organizations by helping them acquire and implement sophisticated marketing skills, 3. To enable arts organizations to increase earned income through audience development and market driven plans. 4 To provide a meaningful lunch program to attract both corporate and cultural participants, providing a unique environment for interaction and information sharing, 5 To showcase media available in the community for arts groups to utilize to bring in new audience, 6. Showcase Miami Beach as a leader in the arts in South Florida and serve the constituents and funded arts organizations of the Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council. Necessary changes in the program (if any) if funding received is less than original request: The Arts & Business Council received less than Yt of the funding we requested for this project, therefore, we have to downscale the project. We have eliI?inate~ the Arts DisI?lay area th~t would have provided cultural groups that reside or perform on Miami Beach With the opportumty to dIsplay promotIOnal matenals from their organizations, We are also reconsidering the national kev note speaker for the lunch program, We can not afford the fees of the Yankovich firm in New York to discuss "Consumer . Trends and the Arts Market" without additional funding, We are exploring other possibilities, We will also reconsider the awards program that would highlight corporations and business executives who support the arts, the Arts & Business Council's dlstll1gUlshed Corporate and Cultural Partners Award winners will be announced and recognized, Finally, to give us the opportumty to raise additional funds we have moved the program from March to May of 1999, CITY OF MIAMI BEACH CULTURAL ARTS COUNCIL EXHIBIT 2: REVISED PROJECT BUDGET A.
