BACKGROUND
The Miami Beach Police Department participates with several other Federal, State and Local Law
Enforcement Agencies in the South Florida Impact Task Force. This Task Force has recently
completed an investigation that resulted in the seizure and subsequent forfeiture of a 1999 Ford F-
250 Pickup Truck. When multiple agencies participate in an investigation, the proceeds are divided
among the participating agencies. The Miami Beach Police Department requested the ownership of
the 1999 Ford F-250 Pickup Truck.
The City of Coral Gables Police Department, on behalf of all of the South Florida Impact Task Force
member agencies, was given title to the 1999 Ford F -250 Pickup Truck subsequent to forfeiture
proceedings in the Circuit Court ofBroward County, Florida. Under Chapter 932, Florida Statutes,
the law enforcement agency that has property forfeited to it can either use the property itself, donate
the property to another public entity, or sell the property at a public auction.
For our participation in this investigation, the City of Coral Gables is donating the Ford F-250
Pickup Truck to the Miami Beach Police Department.
CONCLUSION
The acceptance of the donation of this motor vehicle will benefit the citizens of the City of Miami
Beach and permit the Police Department to obtain a vehicle without any cost to the taxpayers.
