PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER A REVOCABLE PERMIT FOR THE USE
OF THE NORTHERN HALF OF WEST 29TH STREET STREET-END, WEST
OF PRAIRIE AVENUE, IN FAVOR OF MASSIMO AND JISKA BARRACA,
OWNERS OF THE ADJACENT PROPERTY OWNERS AT 2900 PRAIRIE
AVENUE
To:
Subject:
The property owners at 2900 Prairie Avenue, Massimo and Jiska Barraca had requested
the City vacate the northern 18 feet of 29th Street street-end, west of Prairie Avenue
adjacent to their property. After making application through the due process, a public
hearing was held during the commission meeting on July 7, 2004.
By acclamation vote, the City Commission denied the request for vacation and set a public
hearing for September 8, 2004, to consider the issuance of a revocable permit for use of
that portion of the street-end. The City Commission referred the issue to the Finance and
Citywide Projects Committee for discussion of guidelines for vacating City property.
Mr. Michael Larkin, representing the Barracas, communicated bye-mail that his clients
have not confirmed their intent to proceed with the revocable permit. Consequently, the
City has not advertised the scheduled public hearing and will not proceed with this issue
until furthe equest by the applicants.
