SUBJECT: Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) under the State Housing Initiatives
Partnership (SHIP) Program
In accordance with the City's adopted Local Housing Assistance Plan for the State Housing
Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program, the City issues Notices of Funding Availability (NOFAs)
to identify a sponsor(s) to operate a scattered-site Home Ownership Program. The next NOFA for
the SHIP Program will be issued on Thursday, August 12, 1999 making available $487,226 in SHIP
Program funds from fiscal year 1998/99. Under the terms of the NOFA, applications will be
accepted from qualified entities to continue the operation of a scattered-site Home Ownership
Program in Miami Beach and to commit to utilize the funds by June 30, 2001.
This Home Ownership Program provides rehabilitation assistance and home ownership opportunities
for participating households, including City staff, with income of up to 120 percent of the Area
Median Income (e.g., $53,520 for a family of four). The price of a residence to be acquired under
this Program is not to exceed 90 percent of the median area purchase price for Miami-Dade County
(i.e., $113,418 for an existing home).
As required by the SHIP Program Rule, the City will begin accepting applications on September 13,
1999, thirty (30) days at~er the issuance of the NOFA. Applications will be accepted until September
17, 1999 at 5:00 p.m.
