The North Shore Park & Youth Center:

. The Youth Sports Expo was held at the beautiful new North Shore Park & Youth
Center Sunday, September 19, 2004 and included paid sponsors. The event drew
more than 800 guests. Music, fun and various activities were enjoyed by all.
g; ~articipants registered for Recreation programs such as Flag Football and Soccer for
" ¡]he Fall sports season. For the first time four (4) sponsors participated.

-=c. :-")The Miami Beach Sharks traveling baseball team officially moved to their new home
O:::¡ ~at North Shore Park with their first home game Saturday, October 2, 2004. The 11
~ ~and 12-year old Sharks opened their 2004-2005 season at Flamingo Park in early
g :) August.

o i'3 The Free Family Funday was held at North Shore Park & Youth Center Saturday,
October 2, 2004 from 11 :00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Over 550 attendees enjoyed the event
that featured free tennis court usage, ceramics, games, dance instruction, basketball
shootout, fencing, computer lab instructions, refreshments and a special appearance
by our Parks & Recreation mascot.
The new Co-ed Adult Softball League consisting of eight teams comprised from the citY
employees and residents began play Tuesday, September 28 at Flamingo Park. The teams will
play Tuesdays and Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. -10:30 p.m. Adult Basketball and Adult Soccer
leagues are planned for the coming months.

Six of our athletes took honors in the Special Olympics Local Games for Bowling September 11,
2004 at the Cloverleaf Bowling Lanes in North Miami Beach. Our athletes took three First Place,
one Second Place and two Third Place. If our athletes' scores are high enough, they may be
invited to bowl in the Special Olympics Fall Classic Competition for Bowling to be held in
Bradenton, Florida November 5-6, 2004.
Scott Rakow Youth Center teens participated in the Turtle Walk and Beach Cleanup Day
October 2, 2004 from 8:00 a.m. - 1 :00 p.m. at Haulover Park.
Scott Rakow Youth Center juniors will participate in an overnight camping experience at Oleta
River State Park on November 5 & 6.
