AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, WAIVING
BUILDING PERMIT FEES FOR BUILDING
PERMITS ISSUED WITHIN THE NEXT SIXTY
DAYS FOR REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF
BUILDINGS DAMAGED OR DESTROYED BY
HURRICANE ANDREW, AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on August 24, 1992 Hurricane Andrew destroyed and
damaged numerous properties throughcut the City of Miami Beach,
rendering homes and other buildings unsuitable for occupation and
use; and
WHEREAS, a state of emergency exists in the City due to the
damage to and destruction of such properties; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to ease the financial
burden upon residents and businesses having to repair and replace
such properties and to expedite the repair and replacement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIANI BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1.
WAIVER OF BUILDING PERMIT FEES.
That fees incurred for obtaining building permits as set forth
in Miami Beach City Code Chapter 8, issued within the sixty-day
period commencing on August 28, 1992, for repair and replacement of
buildings damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Andrew, are hereby
waived.
SECTION 2.
EFFECTIVE DATE.
Pursuant to Section 9 of the Miami Beach City Charter, this
emergency ordinance shall take effect immediately upon passage.
