Subject: 310 Collins Avenue-
Emergency Demolition Order Status Report
Pursuant to the requirements of the Florida Building Code, the Building Official issued an
Emergency Demolition Order on December 17, 2004 for the demolition of the above noted
structure. Such Order was based upon a field inspection performed by the Building Official
and the City's Chief Structural Engineer. The Building Official incorporated into the Unsafe
Structure Notice that the primary façade shall be retained and shored.
The subject structure is designated contributing in the Miami beach Historic Properties
Database, and is located within the Ocean Beach Local Historic District.
The Historic Preservation Board has been advised of this action and will discuss the matter
at their January 11,2005 meeting; an emergency meeting of the Board may be called prior
to January 11, at the discretion of the Board Chair. The matter will be coming back before
the Historic Preservation Board at some point in the near future as a formal application for
an "after-the-fact Certificate of Appropriateness for Demolition, as required by City Code.
At this time, no plans have been submitted for a replacement structure on the subject site.
