29-84 RDARESOLUTION NO. 29-8/4 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI BEACH REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY URGING THE SUPPORT OF ALL DADE COUNTY MUNICIPALITIES AND THE DADE LEAGUE OF CITIES IN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH'S ACQUISITION OF WATERFRONT PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH WHEREAS, public access to the water is one of the most unique attributes within the State of Florida; and WHEREAS, public properties adjacent to the waterfront should be protected and enhanced for public use; and WHEREAS, the Federal Government currently holds title to property located along Government Cut, commonly known as the Coastguard Property, which Property has been declared surplus by the General Services Administration, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED that the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency urges the support of all Dade County Municipalities and the Dade League of Cities in the City of Miami Beach's efforts to acquire the Property for continued public use through donation from the General Services Administration; and FURTHER, that the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency encourages all Dade County Municipalities, the Dade League of Cities, and the State of Florida, and in particular, the Governor, to intercede on behalf of the City of Miami Beach in the City's efforts to acquire the General Services Administration's Property; and FURTHER, that the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency urges the State of Florida to assist, if necessary, in the City's acquisition of the Property through use of State funds as appropriate for preservation of strategic waterfront property; and FURTHER, that the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency encourages all Dade County Municipalities and the Florida League of Cities to support this position through the City's efforts to preserve and enhance public waterfront for enjoyment by all citizens of the State.
