A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF
A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE UNITED
STATES COAST GUARD CUTTERS VALIANT, GENTIAN, MANITOU,
MATAGORDA, CHANDELUER, BARANOF, FARALLON, MAUl,
HUDSON AND VISITING COAST GUARD CUTTERS AND THE MIAMI
BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT REGARDING FIRE FIGHTING AND
EMERGENCY OPERATIONS ABOARD THE AFOREMENTIONED
CUTTERS.
WHEREAS, the United States Coast Guard cutters VALIANT, GENTIAN, MANITOU,
MATAGORDA, CHANDELUER, BARANOF, FARALLON, MAUl, HUDSON, and visiting
Coast Guard cutters are stationed at Coast Guard base Miami; and
WHEREAS, the Coast Guard base Miami is located within the geographical limits ofthe
City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, fires and emergencies occurring at Coast Guard Base Miami or aboard the
cutters stationed there may require the assistance ofthe Miami Beach Fire Department to protect
lives and property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City of Miami
Beach authorize the filing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the United States Coast
Guard cutters VALIANT, GENTIAN, MANITOU, MATAGORDA, CHANDELUER,
BARANOF, FARALLON, MAUl, HUDSON andvisiting Coast Guard cutters and the Miami
Beach Fire Department regarding firefighting and emergency operations aboard the
aforementioned cutters.

ADMINISTRATIVE RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the Resolution.
ANALYSIS
The United States Coast Guard Cutters VALIANT, GENTIAN, MANITOU, MATAGORDA, CHANDELUER,
BARANOF, FARALLON, MAUl, HUDSON and other visiting United States Coast Guard Cutters are based at
Coast Guard base Miami. Coast Guard Miami is located on Federal Government property that lies within the
geographic boundaries of the City of Miami Beach at 100 McArthur Causeway, Miami Beach, Florida. The
aforementioned cutters may require the assistance of the Miami Beach Fire Department for firefighting and
other emergencies aboard these vessels.
The Memorandum of Agreement defines the roles and responsibilities of both agencies during emergency
operations conducted on federal government property.
The City Commission should adopt this Resolution.
