Subject:
To keep you informed on the status of the repairs and renovations to the Historic City Hall
Building, the following is a planned schedule of the project:
With the approval of the construction methods and plan by the Historic Preservation
Board, the architects prepared and delivered the final construction documents by the end
of February, 2005.
Final plans and specifications and permit application have been submitted for review
through the Building, Planning, and Fire departments to assure the plans are complete and
ready to allow for a proper bid of the project. The Building permit can be later transferred
to the awarded contractor after the bid process is complete. This process is expected to
take no more than four weeks, or through March 21,2005, to complete.
An RFP will be issued to solicit bids for the project. Due to the specialized nature of this
historic renovation construction, an estimate of approximately 4-5 weeks should be allowed
for the bidding process. With the Procurement process, pre-bid conferences, and
requested addendum, this process could be expected to take approximately two months, or
until June 1, 2005, to complete.
Once the bids are received and reviewed, a Commission Memorandum will be drafted for
the award of the contract at the July 27th Commission Meeting. When the contract is
awarded, the contractor will need time to stage the project as it will entail major scaffolding
installation, the demolition of all existing plaster surfaces, window replacements, and the
restoration of the entire historic exterior façade of the building. A reasonable estimated
construction time of the project would be approximately 1 year to completion (September
2006).
