To ensure the maintenance levels meets acceptable standards of the
City of Miami Beach, FDOT agreed to compensate the City $37,500 per
quarter for a total of $150,000 per year, for the cost of
maintaining said landscaping, as per the Highway Landscape
Memorandum of Agreement that was approved by the City Commission on
July 13, 1994, Resolution No, 94-21210, This agreement is now in
the third quarter and the State of Florida is very pleased with the
level of maintenance being provided, Therefore FDOT has chosen to
exercise its option to renew the contract with the City for the
next twelve month period beginning on September 1, 1995,
ANALYSIS:
In order to ensure the continuance of the FDOT funding for the
landscape maintenance of the Julia Tuttle Causeway, the City must
execute the Maintenance Contract Renewal to the existing Memorandum
of Agreement for the period of September 1, 1995 to August 31,
1996, The City is currently in the third quarter of the first year
of this agreement and to date has submitted an invoice to FDOT for

future. Execution of the Maintenance Contract Renewal will ensure
continuation of this reimbursement for the next twelve month
period.

The Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission
approve the attached Resolution authorizing the Mayor and City
Clerk to execute the Maintenance Contract Renewal to the Memorandum
of Agreement currently in effect between the Florida Department of
Transportation and the City of Miami Beach for the landscape
maintenance of the Julia Tuttle Causeway, Contract No, B-9112.
