This Letter to Commission (LTC) is intended to provide you with an update on the status of
the Cultural Affairs Program Manager position. As you may know, William Baites, who
served as Cultural Affairs Program Manager for one and one-half years, resigned from the
City in February 2005.
Gary Farmer has been selected to fill the aforementioned position on a temporary basis
until such time that a permanent candidate is chosen. As you can see from the attached
resume, Mr. Farmer has a long history in the Miami Beach community and with cultural
arts. Mr. Farmer will be a member of the Tourism and Cultural Development Department
responsible for directing the activities of the City's cultural affairs program, facilities and
Cultural Arts Council. Additionally, the City has begun advertising the Cultural Affairs
Program Manager position, which will remain open until filled.
