A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPOINTING COMMISSIONER
RICHARD STEINBERG TO SERVE AS THE CITY REPRESENTATIVE ON
THE GOVERNING BOARD OF THE METROPOLITAN PLANNING
ORGANIZATION ("MPO").
WHEREAS, Miami Beach City Commissioner Jose Smith, the City Commission
appointee/representative on the Governing Board of the Metropolitan Planning Organization
("MPO"), will be fulfilling his 8 year term limit on the City Commission as of November, 2005; and
WHEREAS, it is therefore necessary for the City Commission to appoint a replacement City
of Miami Beach elected official to serve on the MPO; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Richard Steinberg has shown interest in, and has been involved
with transportation issues, and would admirably represent the City on the MPO; and
WHEREAS, MPO rules require a Resolution of the governing body of any municipality that
wishes to appoint an elected official, other than its Mayor, to the MPO Governing Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby appoint Commissioner Richard Steinberg to serve as the City representative on
the Governing Board of the Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Pursuant to the request of Mayor David Dermer, the attached resolution provides for the
appointment of Commissioner Richard Steinberg to serve as the City's representative on the
Governing Board of the Metropolitan Planning Organization ("MPO"). This appointment is
being made as a result of Commissioner's Jose Smith imminent fulfillment of his 8 year term
limit on the City Commission.
