SUBJECT: Existing Vacancies on the Historic Preservation and Design Review Boards
As you may be aware, the City has a number of vacancies and/or term expirations on the Design
Review Board (DRB) and the Historic Preservation Board (HPB). The vacant categories of the
relevant boards are indicated hereto:
Historic Preservation Board
1. A registered architect, registered landscape architect, professional designer or professional
urban planner with practical experience in the rehabilitation of historic structures; or an attorney
at law or a licensed engineer who has professional experience and demonstrated interest in
historic preservation.
This position is currently held by Mr. Alan Hall. Mr. Haft is eligible to be re-appointed for a full
two-year term.
2. A member of the faculty of a school of architecture in the state, with academic expertise in the
field of design and historic preservation or the history of architecture, with a preference for an
individual with practical experience in architecture and the preservation of historic structures.
This position is currently held by Mr. Jean Francois Lejeune. Mr. Lejeune is eligible to be re-
appointed for a full two-year term.
Design Review Board
1. Registered Architect (2 Vacancies).
One of the vacant positions is currently held by Mr. Mike Steffens. Mr. Steffens is eligible to be
re-appointed for a full two-year term.
The other vacancy was held by Mr. Greg Neville, who is term limited and cannot be re-
appointed.
2. Citizen at Large (2 Vacancies).
One of the vacant positions is currently held by Mr. Alex David. Mr. David is eligible to be re-
appointed for a full two-year term.
The other vacancy was previously held by Mr. Louis Martinez, who recently had to step down
from the Board due to an excessive number of absences. Mr. Alfredo Andia, a resident of
Normandy Isle and an Architectural Professor at Florida International University, has expressed
interest in serving on the DRB in this capacity. Mr. Andia is eligible to be appointed to fill this
position and may be contacting some members of the Commission regarding this position. Mr.
Andia has extensive experience in the field of urban planning, site planning, architecture and
urban design.

LTC - Existing Vacancies on City Development Review Boards
In order to maintain quorums, the members of the boards whose terms have expired can be held
over for a period not to exceed 60 days from December 31,2005. Consequently, the need for
members is very pressing for both the Histodc Preservation and Design Review Boards, which
will not b/e~ to field quorums after their February meetings.
