RESOLUTION NO. 96-22227
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, CONSENTING TO AND CONFIRMING THE
APPOINTMENT OF ALBERT CHILDRESS AS CODE
COMPLIANCE DIRECTOR FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH.
Whereas, the City Manager has appointed Albert Childress as the Code Complianc e
Director; and,
Whereas, pursuant to Section 4.02 ofthe City of Miami Beach Charter, as well as Sectio 1
2-3 of the City Code, the City Manager has power to appoint directors of City departments with th e
consent and confirmance of the Mayor and the City Commission; and,
Whereas, the Mayor and the City Commission wish to consent and confirm the appointnel t
of Albert Childress as Code Compliance Director of the City of Miami Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE Clrr
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and the Cit {
Commission have consented to and confirmed the appointment of Albert Childress as the Cod e
Compliance Director of the City of Miami Beach.

ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
Pursuant to the requirements of Article IV, Section 4.02 of the City Charter and Section 2.3
of the City Code, it is recommended that the' Mayor and the City Commission adopt tt e
attached Resolution consenting and confirming the appointment of Albert Childress as tt e
Code Compliance Director for the City of Miami Beach.
BACKGROUND:
During his 13 years in code compliance with Metro-Dade County, Albert Childress worked h s
way up through the ranks, gaining.,v.aluable experience in a wide variety of areas includir 9
supervising the Contractor Enforcement and Licensing Section and Code Control Section 01 tt e
Building and Zoning Department; insuring compliance with Grand Jury recommendation: i;
formulating the Hurricane Andrew Contractor Fraud Unit; performing as Secretary to tt e
Construction Trades Qualifying Board; and ensuring compliance with state statutes, Sou1 h
Florida Building Code, and other local regulations. Mr. Childress earned a Bachelor's Deqre e
in Criminology and a Master's Degree in Public Administration. He also completed a Certifh;al e
in Public Personnel Management and labor Relations to further prepare himself for th s
responsibility.
Mr. Childress' resume is attached, and provides a more detailed description of his qualificat110r s

CONCLUSION:
It is a great pleasure to announce that Albert Childress has accepted the position of Cod ~
