SUBJECT: More Parks and Recreation Updates!
On Saturday, Janua~ 21, the City of Miami Beach Cheerleading X-treme, Lightnin~an~
Bolts squads competed in the Fou~h Annual Miami Heat Spring Floor Cheer and ~ce~
Classic held at the American Airlines Arena. This was the first time all three squads
attended a competition together. The si~y-three girls and one boy cheered, tumbled, and
danced their way to three first place titles. The judges were so impressed with their amazing
routines that they invited the X-treme squad to return and perform at the Miami Heat vs.
Sacramento Kings pre-game show the following day. The squad stunned the crowd and
received a standing ovation.
On Friday, Janua~ 27, the Play-Time Program, held at Flamingo Park, taught their three and
four year old children the impodance of sta~ing the day off the healthy way during their
"Breakfast in Pajamas" event. The children had an oppodunity to learn the impo~ance of a
well-balanced breakfast while enjoying the comfod of home (pajamas). The group was
exposed to a variety of foods such as fruits, toast, cereal, whole-grain waffles, orange juice
and milk.
We are also proud to announce a new bowling league for adults with disabilities. This new
league gives Special Populations Programs throughout Miami-Dade and Broward County
the oppodunity to meet new people and compete in a friendly environment on a weekly
basis. So far, the Cities of Miami, Hialeah, and Pembroke Pines as well as Mac Town Group
Home and Peer Link Special Needs Program have joined the leaguel
