ANALYSIS
It is in the best interest of the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency, (the Agency) to ensure
participation by residents, business owners and community representatives of the South Pointe
Redevelopment area as members of the South Pointe Advisory Board, (the Board). Because of
several projects and activities currently underway in the South Pointe area, it would be beneficial
to have the continuity, knowledge, and experience of the current Board members.
On May 7, 1997, the Board was expanded to thirteen (13) members, with the following composition:
· Six residents of the South Pointe area striving to represent each type of residential dwelling;
· Six owners or lessees of business located in the South Pointe area or representatives of a public
or cultural type or facility (e.g. hospital, museum, housing authority, library);
· One representative from the Historic Preservation organization with expertise in the field of
architecture and the rehabilitation of historic structures.
Each term is to be for two years, with terms set on a staggered basis.
Appointments to the Board would have been made in December 1999, but due to changes in the
Administration and ongoing review of the applications, this process was postponed. The sixty-day
extension of the current terms expires this month.
