R-173-06 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT (MOA) BETWEEN MIAMI- DADE COUNTY AND THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH PROVIDING FOR COUNTY REIMBURSEMENT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $686,880 TO UPGRADE EXISTING TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT THE INTERSECTIONS OF WASHINGTON AVENUE AT 11,12,13 AND 14TH STREETS WHEREAS, this Board desires to accomplish the purposes outlined in the accompanying Memorandum of Agreement, a copy of which is incorporated herein by reference, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board approves the Memorandum of Agreement between Miarni-Dade County (MDC) and the City of Miami Beach providing for MDC reimbursement to the City of Miami Beach up to SIX HUNDRED EIGHTY SIX THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED EIGHTY DOLLARS ($686,880.000) of the cost to upgrade traffic signals at the intersections of Washington Avenue and 11, 12, 13 and 14th Streets, in substantially, the form attached hereto and made a part hereof, and authorizing the County Manager to execute same for and on behalf of the County and to exercise the provisions contained therein. 3 } \ \ Agenda Item No.8{P) (l) (B) Page No.2 The foregoing resolution was offered by Commissioner Dorrin D. Burgess ~~ County Manager .. . ~ Resolution Authorizing the Execution of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Between Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami Beach Providing for County Reimbursement in an Amount not to Exceed $686,880 to Upgrade Existing Traffic Signals at the Intersections of Washington Avenue at 11, 12, 13 and 14th Streets Subject: RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) approve the attached Resolution authorizing the execution of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami Beach providing for County reimbursement from Road Impact Fee District 8 funding allocation in an amount not to exceed $686.880 to upgrade existing traffic signals at the intersections of Washington Avenue at 11,12.13 and 14th Streets. BACKGROUND The aforementioned signals require upgrading as part of the City of Miami Beach's Washington Avenue Roadway Improvement Project presently under a design-build contract with Ric-man International. The City of Miami Beach requested that the County contribute to the cost for the signalization components along the Washington Avenue Improvement Project. Since the County has jurisdiction over traffic control devices, the County has agreed to reimburse the City in an amount not to exceed $686,880 for signal reconstruction at these locations. The City of Miami Beach has designed, awarded the contract and will supervise the construction of these improvements. Reimbursement by the County will be made through the submission of City invoices with appropriate support documentation.
