Resolution Authorizing the Execution of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)
Between Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami Beach Providing for County
Reimbursement in an Amount not to Exceed $686,880 to Upgrade Existing Traffic
Signals at the Intersections of Washington Avenue at 11, 12, 13 and 14th Streets
Subject:
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) approve the attached Resolution
authorizing the execution of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Miami-Dade County and the
City of Miami Beach providing for County reimbursement from Road Impact Fee District 8 funding
allocation in an amount not to exceed $686.880 to upgrade existing traffic signals at the intersections of
Washington Avenue at 11,12.13 and 14th Streets.
BACKGROUND
The aforementioned signals require upgrading as part of the City of Miami Beach's Washington Avenue
Roadway Improvement Project presently under a design-build contract with Ric-man International.
The City of Miami Beach requested that the County contribute to the cost for the signalization
components along the Washington Avenue Improvement Project. Since the County has jurisdiction
over traffic control devices, the County has agreed to reimburse the City in an amount not to exceed
$686,880 for signal reconstruction at these locations.
The City of Miami Beach has designed, awarded the contract and will supervise the construction of
these improvements. Reimbursement by the County will be made through the submission of City
invoices with appropriate support documentation.
FISCAL IMPACT
Road Impact Fee District 8 funding is provided for this MOA to upgrade said traffic signals.
