98-22695 RESO RESOLUTION NO. 98-22695 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUIRING THE CITY COMMISSION TO CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE PASSING THROUGH ANY RATE INCREASE TO THE CONSUMER WITHIN THIRTY (30) DAYS OF CITY COMMISSION APPROVAL OF SUCH RATE INCREASE TO THE CITY. WHEREAS, from time to time, it becomes necessary for the City of Miami Beach ("City") to increase rates for various utility services based upon increases in rates charged to the City by various providers; and WHEREAS, the increase in rates paid to any such provider should be passed through to the consumer who receives such service via the passage of an appropriate ordinance which would raise the fees for such service. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that whenever a rate increase is approved to be paid by the City for any utility service, said increase shall be provided for in an ordinance which passes through the increased fee to the consumer and said ordinance shall be placed on a City Commission agenda for consideration within thirty (30) days of the City approving any such rate increase. Under the assumption that a rate increase is considered a pass-through fee, there is no reason for the separation of the two items. This ordinance will effectively simplify the issue both for the commission and our residents.
