98-22699 RESO RESOLUTION NO. 98-22699 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING, RETROACTIVELY, A DONATION OF VARIOUS COMPUTER EQUIPMENT, VALUED AT APPROXIMATELY $10,000.00, FROM BANCO LATINO INTERNATIONAL FOR USE BY THE MIAMI BEACH POLICE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENTS WHEREAS, the business known as Banco Latino International has gone out of business and the Vice President and General Manager Warren Jay Stamm offered to the City computer equipment formerly used by the bank and; WHEREAS, the computer equipment, in the attached inventory, can be used by the Miami Beach Police and Information Technology Departments. WHEREAs, time was of the essence in obtaining the equipment and with the time requirements for submission of items for the City Commission could not be met, retroactive approval is necessary. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City herein, retroactively, accepts the computer equipment, as shown in the attached inventory as a donation from Banco Latino International and Warren Jay Stamm. Section 2. the computer equipment remain in the custody of and become a part of the Police and Information Technology Departments inventories, and shall be serviced and maintained as is all other similar equipment. Kasdin and Members of the City Commission Sergio Rodriguez 8-_ City Manager /~ DATE: April 1, 1998 FROM: SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING, RETROACTIVELY, A DONATION OF COMPUTER EQUIPMENT, VALUED AT APPROXIMATELY $10,000.00, FROM BANCO LATINO INTERNATIONAL FOR USE BY THE MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION Adopt the Resolution. BACKGROUND Banco Latino International went out of business in late 1997. Mr. Warren Jay Stamm, Vice President and General Manager was the executive in charge of disposing of the bank's.assets and offered to donate to the City any equipment that the City thought it could use. Employees from the Information Technology and Police Departments who serve in technical positions selected certain computer equipment that could be of use to the City. The equipment selected is shown in the inventory on Annex" A". All of the equipment selected was in used condition, and the total value of all of the equipment is estimated at $10,000.00. Time was of the essence in obtaining the equipment, and as such, retroactive approval of this donation is requested. By accepting this generous donation, the City can integrate this equipment into its inventory at no cost to the citizens, CONCLUSION The Mayor and City Commission should retroactively accept a donation of computer equipment from Banco Latino International.
