RESOLUTION No. 2000-23861
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ADOPTING
THE SIXTH AMENDMENT TO THE POLICE
CONFISCATION TRUST FUND FOR FISCAL YEAR 1999/00,
IN THE AMOUNT OF $206,351, TO BE FUNDED FROM THE
PROCEEDS OF STATE CONFISCATED FUNDS.
WHEREAS, Section 932.705, Florida Statutes, addresses the purpose and procedures to
be utilized for the appropriation and expenditures of the Police Confiscation Trust Fund; and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police of the City of Miami Beach has determined that the need
for appropriation and expenditures exist and the appropriation and expenditure of forfeiture funds
is in compliance with Section 932.705, Florida Statutes; and
WHEREAS, such funds are available in the Police Confiscation Trust Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby adopt the Sixth Amendment to the FY 99/00 Police Confiscation Trust Fund
Budget for the City of Miami Beach, in the amount of $206,351, as reflected in the attached
Exhibit "A".

OVERTIME generated by the South Florida Impact Task
Force during the second & third quarters of FY99/00
CONTRIBUTION TO THE POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE
SUMMER JOBS PROGRAM: The Miami Beach Police Athletic
League Explorers consists of young adults sharing a common
interest in law enforcement. The Explorers get "hands on
experience" concerning law enforcement through their many
functions, some of which include traffic control, accident
investigation, crime prevention, security, field interrogations
and arrest procedures. During the summer months, the Police
Department hires the Explorers. This provides direction to the
Explorers, and the Department benefits from the additional
manpower which increases programming and saves overtime
GYM EQUIPMENT - (Several pieces of equipment are either
broken or unsafe) to include shoulder press, gluteflexor,
combo pulley, abdominal machine, Super Smith machine,
and a Body Opponent Bag which replicates the body of a
person allowing officers to train with their A.S.P. or practice self
defense techniques.
Installation of two GLASS DOORS in the jail, including
removal of existing pair of steel doors from East side of
lock-up

ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the Resolution.
ANAL YSIS
Florida Statute 932.705 provides for expenditures of forfeiture funds for law enforcement purposes.
The Chief of Police of the City of Miami Beach has reviewed and identified the need for the
appropriation and has established that the expenditures of forfeiture funds is in compliance with
Section 932.705, Florida State Statutes. These forfeiture funds have been deposited in the Police
Confiscation Trust Fund. The City has complied with all statutory procedures involved in the
transaction of these funds.
The Administration requests authorization to adopt the Sixth Amendment to the operating budget
for the FY 1999/00 Police Confiscation Trust Fund in the amount of $206,351 from State funds to
be used to provide for the expenditures listed in Exhibit "A".
