Code Compliance Case Information on Velocity Hall
DATE:
SUBJECT:
The purpose of this LTC is to inform you of a new on-line service available to residents and
business owners that will provide up-to-date information on the disposition of code
compliance complaints, violations and cases.
One of my goals, as well as one the City's Key Intended Outcomes (Kia), is to expand City
services through e-government. The City has been meeting the goal of expanding e-
government through various initiatives, such as Better Place, where residents, business
owners and visitors can enter service requests on-line, and providing for residents to pay
certain bills on-line. The City also provides "Permit Manager" on-line, giving residents and
businesses the ability to check the status of building permits using the Internet tool, Velocity
Hall, available on the City's website.
In an effort to provide our residents with the opportunity to research the status of all code
compliance complaints on-line and at their convenience, programming enhancements have
been made to Velocity Hall's Permit Manager. These enhancements will give all interested
parties the opportunity to research code compliance cases by address. The enhanced
Velocity Hall went live on the City's website on April 17, 2006. You can access this new
function by going to our home page and selecting "Online Services", then clicking on "Check
Code Violations/Complaints" under Neighborhood Services. When an address is entered, a
listing of code cases (open, closed and pending) is provided. Noise complaints are reflected
under the category "CNOISE." Although this is not a substitute for actual in-depth research
conducted prior to a real-estate transaction, it serves as an easy and quick reference tool for
anyone interested in researching the status of a code compliance case. In addition, the
Neighborhood Services Department is preparing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a new
code database. A requirement of this new system is its ability to provide on-line access to
code compliance cases.
Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my
office.
