')?Q_?OOfl A RESOLUTION OF THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA (RDA), APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO THE CITY, IN THE AMOUNT OF $315,000, FOR REPAIRS NEEDED AT THE ANCHOR GARAGE, FROM CITY CENTER REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OPERATING FUND 463. WHEREAS, on August 7,2000, the newly constructed Anchor Garage, located at 1557 Washington Avenue on 16 street, received a Certificate of Occupancy and has since been in operation without major repairs; and WHEREAS, during 2005 and 2006, the garage suffered the impact of several hurricanes that struck South Florida; and WHEREAS, in response to concerns expressed by the Parking Department on April 2006, the Capital Improvement Projects Office (CIP) Office performed a comprehensive inspection ofthe garage structure; and WHEREAS, at the time. of the inspection, the following conditions were observed: excessive corrosion and deterioration to the post-tension cables that create the barrier for fall protection in the two upper floors; spalling concrete on the roof parking deck; deterioration of the expansion joints; damage to the storefront at the roof level, missing and damaged exit signs; deteriorated electrical pipes as a result of weather exposure; and damaged aluminum exterior panels; and WHEREAS, CIP has initiated discussions with one of the City's Job Order Contractors (JOC) in order to schedule the repairs as soon as possible; and WHEREAS, at this point, the repairs are estimated at $315,000; and WHEREAS, the pricing effort has not been finalized, and will not include waterproofing for the top floor deck, which is recommended after the repairs are completed; and WHEREAS, in order to fund the repairs, the City is requesting that the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency hereby appropriate the necessary funding, in the amount of $315,000. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA (RDA), that the Chairman and Members hereby appropriate funds to the City, in the amount of $315,000, for repairs needed at the Anchor Garage, from City Center Redevelopment Agency Operating Fund 463. CONCLUSION Based on the findings at the facility, the administration recommends correcting the deficiencies in the garage as soon as possible and request appropriation of funds in the amount of $315,000, including construction contingency.
