LETTER TO COMMISSION
TO: Mayor David Dermer and Members of the City Commission

SUBJECT: Resident User Friendly DOggy~ags
I am pleased to present you with one of the first of the Parks & Recreation Department's
new, sponsored doggy "Poopbags." The bags encourage and facilitate responsible dog
ownership by making it easy and convenient for our residents and guests to clean up after
their pets. This creative initiative helps protect our environment and saves the City money.
The Parks & Recreation Department distributes approximately 250,000 of the bags annually
in our Bark Parks, near beach accesses and throughout the City's park system. The
$10,000 cost is almost completely offset by pet related and other businesses that see the
value of this unique form of direct advertising.
This project is a continuation of our sponsorship program that has resulted in advertising to
help offset costs of both the Recreation Review and the new MB magazines.
